On Communication...

To tell the truth, I'm not a big fan of social media. This project, thus, brings with it a challenge for me. I need to learn how to use the means to broadcast our project. How does this speak to "communication" in general? I think of communication in today's age in two levels. The first level is the immediate level where you still communicate with people face-to-face. You get to know them in time, you like or dislike them, you understand their ideas, sympathize with their beliefs, or work hard to fundamentally change them. It's personal and intimate. The second level is a cyber-level that interestingly started to have more effect on daily relationships than the first one. You broadcast your talents on Youtube, paste a sexy photo on Facebook, "check-in" with your iphone, etc. This is the impersonal level where interaction takes place at an abstract stage, yet is still very powerful.

As I've said, I'm not a fan of the second level, so for me, communication in this project will be more about getting to know the members of my group, have fun, and learn how to make beer.

  3. Thank you for your comments, I guess this communication project worked well for all of us (though it was a bit too overwhelming from time to time). Hope you all had fun communicating!
